I had a craving for something snacky today, and so I decided to make me some chippies! With a fresh harvest of homegrown potatoes, it was a good excuse to use some of them up. Chips are really simple to make, and with the freedom to make whatever flavour you want, you sometimes have to wonder why you bother buying them.
Ingredients:
- 4 potatoes (more or less depending on how much you want to make – keep in mind the slices will shrink.)
- Olive oil
- Rosemary
- Garlic powder
- Sea salt flakes
Method:
- Preheat oven to 180 degrees centigrade
- Boil the potatoes whole for 5-10 minutes so they are just about cooked, but still firm
- Slice the potatoes with a knife or potato peeler (or slicer) to the desired thickness. The thicker they are, the longer they will take to cook. I slice anywhere between 1mm-2mm so they are thin but not too paper-thin.
- Place potato slices on a tray lined with baking paper
- Drizzle a small amount of oil over the chips (don’t drown them!)
- Sprinkle garlic, rosemary and salt over the chips
- Cook for 20-30 minutes or until the chips are nice and golden
You can season your chips with ANYTHING you like… tomato powder, chilli powder.. experiment!
