Surprisingly easy to make. A nice dessert for cold, wintery nights!
INGREDIENTS
- 9†deep baking tray (lightly oiled)
- 4 large apples (peeled, cored and sliced)
- handful of mixed berries
CRUMBLE
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup oats
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 110g grams softened butter (1 stick)
CINNAMON SUGAR
- ¼ cup granulated sugar (white sugar)
- 1 tsp cinnamon
METHOD
- Preheat oven to 350F (180C)
- Mix cinnamon sugar ingredients and set aside
- Mix crumble ingredients in a bowl, rubbing the butter in with your hands until the mixture becomes crumbly like breadcrumbs. Don’t overwork the mixture.
- Place half the crumble mixture in the bottom of the greased pan and press it down. Place half the sliced apples on top in a layer. Scatter a handful of berries over the apples and add another layer of apples on top.
- Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar on top of the apples. You may not need the whole mix~ just give it a light dusting.
- Add the rest of the crumble mixture on top. It helps to make sure the berries are covered as they can turn bitter when overcooked.
- Bake in oven for around 40-50 minutes until just golden on top.
