A simple and delicious comforting meal of Indonesian braised beef in gravy.
Ingredients:
- 1kg beef, cubed or in thin strips (stewing steak)
- 2 whole cloves
- 2 tbsp. soy sauce
- 1 small onion
- 1 tbsp. oil
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 1/2 cup water (or enough to almost cover the meat)
Method:
- Slice onion lengthwise and fry on medium heat in a little oil until light brown
- Add meat and cook until sealed
- Add water, soy sauce, cloves and nutmeg and mix well
- Cook on low heat until the meat is really tender and the gravy has reduced (~50mins)
